The Half Marathon and the Wheelchair Race Starter Announcement

We are proud to announce that Akiyo Noguchi, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic sport climbing bronze medalist, will be the starter for the half marathon.
Additionally, Yuriko Koike, the Governor of Tokyo, will serve as the wheelchair starter.

Akiyo Noguchi expressed the following comment:
I will be taking on the honorable role of Starter for the Tokyo Legacy Half Marathon 2023, which has started as a legacy of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
I will fulfill the responsibility of making everyone's start running through the streets of Tokyo.

She continued her remarkable success by winning the overall title in the Bouldering World Cup in 2010, 2014, and 2015, achieving this impressive feat three times. She also accumulated a total of 21 victories in World Cup competitions throughout her career.
In 2018, she earned a gold medal in the Combined Japan Cup and at the Asian Games.
In 2019, she achieved a second-place finish at the World Championships.
Her crowning achievement came in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where she won a bronze medal. This marked the culmination of her career as a competitive climber, and she subsequently retired from active competition to pursue a professional career in climbing.
